    * Gold pauses its recent rally.

    Good day. Chuck is headed down to Springfield with his family for their annual summer camping adventure, so he handed off the responsibilities of the Pfennig to me. But as usual Chuck left me a good bit of information before heading out the door; and here it is:

    Well, folks... Just some parting shots for you before I headed out the door on Friday...

    Right after I hit 'send' on Friday, and had told you the euro has sold off 1-cent, and drug the other currencies (except yen and francs) with it... The euro turned around, and headed north! I felt as though I had sent out some bad information! But, there's always a time to cut off, and when I did, the selling was going on......

    * euro returns to 1.28!

    Good day... And a Tub Thumpin' Thursday to you! It's July the 15th, so the month is already half-over... Unbelievable! Day 80-something with the Oil leak... I know the Russian scientists' claims about the Gulf sea bed being damaged are pretty scary and unfounded at this point, but, when the plans to put a cap on the well get delayed, you have to wonder a bit, eh?

    OK... No need to spend a day on that! Hey! The currencies are in rally mode again this morning, after a strong, but not a as strong GDP report from China last night. Chinese 2nd QTR GDP printed at 10.3%, which is quite a drop from the 11.9% they printed in the 1st QTR of this year... But, I've got two things to say about this......

    Good day... And a Terrific Tuesday to you! I'm writing from home this morning, because I go back to the Ocularist this morning to have more work done on my new 'eye'... I didn't sleep worth a darn last night, and I think I just had this visit on my mind.

    Well.. Speaking of something on one's mind.. Or, more like a case of too much too little too late, Moodys announced overnight that they were downgrading Portugal's debt rating, 2 levels to A1... I don't want to get started on these ratings agencies again, they have become as useless as a pay toilet in a diarrhea ward! Ok... That probably wasn't too good to start off today's letter with a saying like that, but... It's what my fat fingers typed, so it stays!...
  • Waiting On The RBNZ...

    * Brazil GDP soars 9%!
    * Another glut of Treasuries to auction...

    Good day... And a Wonderful Wednesday to you! I had a first today on the way to work... I hit every green light! Now... I'm sure you are wondering why I would even have green lights at this hour of the morning... Me too! But they are there! And it was smooth sailing into work today... YAHOO!

    OK... Let's get serious, serious... The currencies traded in a tight range yesterday, with a brief mini-rally in euros, as the single unit rallied to 1.20, but that was short-lived. The rumor going around was that the Swiss National Bank (SNB) was intervening...

  • A Jobs Jamboree Friday – 6/4/2010

    In This Issue..

    * Euro gets beaten down again...
    * Why should we do anything now?
    * Brazil keeping inflation away...
    * ADP says 55,000 jobs created in May...

    Good day... And a Happy Friday to one and all! I suspect this will end up being a Fantastico Friday, but right now, not so much... Today is the Big Jobs Jamboree, and the cable news stations are spinning it quite nicely. So nicely put that stock jockeys are believing the spin and running stock futures higher. I've got that to talk about today, and more debt stuff... Believe me dear reader, I wish I didn't have to talk about this debt stuff, but I feel as though me and a few of my friends are the only ones doing so, and I don't want you to become like the rest of the country and become 'comfortably numb' with the deficit figures!...

    * Canadian GDP jumps to 6.1%!
    * RBA keeps rates unchanged
    * 7-U.S. cities have 'junk debt'...

    Good day... And a Terrific Tuesday to you! And welcome to June! As Pfennig tradition would have it... June is busting out all over, all over the meadows and the hill! Buds're bustin' outta bushes, And the rompin' river pushes, Ev'ry little wheel that wheels beside the mill! And you thought I was just a 'rock-n-roller!'

    Well... Yesterday while we were honoring the fallen soldiers of today and yesteryear, the Europeans were knocking the stuffing out of the euro once again... This time, it was a story that spread like wildfire regarding the Eurozone economy not being able to have strong growth, because of all their austerity measures... Now... Come on boys! First you slam the euro's fingers in the door (OUCH!) for not cutting deficit spending in a few countries, and when they do show a willingness to cut deficit spending, you the ruler out and smack the euro right across the wrist!

    Good day... And a Wonderful Wednesday to you! Some wild storms ripped through our area overnight and left a mess! I had to change my route to work 2 times, due to road closures. But, just like the Pony Express... I made it here, and so the Pfennig will go out!

    Well... Yesterday was a change in the weather for the currencies, as we saw a very tight trading range with no wild swings up or down, which has been the routine for a month now. The euro traded in a range of 1.2675 to 1.2740, going back and forth all day... This morning, as I turn on the screens, the euro is at the bottom of that range....

    Hello everyone! I want to start today with a great big THANK YOU to everyone that sent along prayers, thoughts, good wishes, and everything else to me last week... Yes, it's me! I'm going to take a stab at writing again after two weeks... It's been a turn on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride the past two weeks, but I'm here... I'm out of cancer pain... And... Ready for life's next fork in the road....
